You can compare it to an international postal service for digital documents. Instead of <a href=\"https:\/\/nymus.be\/en\/pdf-invoice-or-e-invoice-which-is-legally-correct\/\">sending paper invoices<\/a> through the mail, Peppol sends electronic invoices through a secure network.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>This allows companies and governments to do business easier and faster<\/strong>. The service provider <strong>automatically processes the invoice<\/strong> and converts the data to the Peppol format. The <strong>e-invoice<\/strong> is then <strong>sent via the Access Point to your customer&#8217;s Access Point<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n<p>If your customer also has a service provider, that service provider will receive the e-invoice. They can convert the data to a format compatible with their accounting package or ERP system, if necessary, without human intervention. In Belgium, the <strong>Peppol BIS 3.0 format<\/strong> is used. This format is based on <strong>UBL (Universal Business Language)<\/strong>, a standard language for electronic business documents such as invoices and orders.    <\/p>\n<p>UBL ensures that all documents exchanged over the network have the same specifications. It acts as a central registry for Access Points to which companies and governments are connected. This enables the exchange of e-invoices between different parties and <strong>provides a uniform standard<\/strong> <strong>for exchanging electronic documents<\/strong> within Europe.  <\/p>\n<p>Previously, countries and companies often used different systems and standards, which caused problems and inefficiencies.
