What is the current legislation regarding e-invoicing:
- 2019: e-invoices are allowed at Dutch government agencies. It is even mandatory for central government agencies (national government and direct bodies & departments).
Through which network?
In the Netherlands, there are several ways to send an e-invoice. The preferred method is the Peppol network in the Peppol BIS 3.0 format.
Other possibilities include
- Digipoort with UBL-OHNL and SETU format
- Government supplier portal: to manually enter invoices with small volumes.
As a Belgian company, how do I send an invoice to the Netherlands?
If you are a Belgian company doing business with a Dutch company, you have to invoice according to Belgian rules. In Belgium, the Peppol network is the standard.
To send e-invoices, you must register through a certified Peppol Access Point such as Nymus. Both sole proprietors, and multinationals can use the Peppol network.
